There’s no Unreal game engine version currently available.

There’s a Unity version with a functioning nuclear reactor, semi-decorated spaceship interior, and other features available here.

Introduction

We aim to provide an immersive, engaging, and high-quality educational experience. Carefully designed gameplay allows players to learn and practice a broad range of real-world skills—such as farming, building, crafting, and more—in a rich, lifelike environment that mirrors the complexities and challenges of real life. The game encourages hands-on learning through interactive gameplay, allowing players to experiment, solve problems, and acquire valuable knowledge that translates into practical abilities.

Game Engine

Ideally we’re developing in Unreal Engine 5.

Currently there’s only a Unity game engine version available. If you want to work on a Unity version instead of/in tandem to the Unreal build let me know. We could see how the two game engines compare to each other when developing the same game in them.

Key reasons why Unreal is ideal:

  1. Offers unparalleled graphical fidelity, ensuring the best possible educational experience through high-quality visuals. Unreal is literally used to make high-quality movies!
  2. Comes with a comprehensive suite of incredibly powerful prebuilt tools, significantly easing the development process allowing us to make more content.
  3. The flexibility and scalability make the engine well-suited to accommodate diverse platforms and the evolving needs of our players.

Game Lore

The lore of Project Universe introduces players to humanity’s greatest endeavor: an interstellar journey to secure a future among the stars. Before the game begins, humanity has already embarked on a bold mission—launching the first fleet of interstellar colony ships to explore and settle distant worlds. This fleet represents the culmination of human adaptability and technological prowess, serving as a prototype for future space colonization.

Humanity’s Grand Fleet

The expedition fleet is a testament to humanity’s bold spirit, with a capacity rivaling the population of Earth. Comprised of massive colony ships, mid-sized research and industrial habitats, and smaller craft, the fleet is an adaptable network capable of connecting and transforming based on the challenges faced during the journey. Players are the crew of this fleet—explorers, scientists, and pioneers tasked with shaping humanity’s future beyond the solar system.

The fleet’s mission is a critical experiment in sustainability and expansion. Players must grapple with managing resources like air, water, food, and energy while contending with the logistics of providing for a vast population. The lessons learned aboard this expedition will shape the future of human space colonization, serving as a crucial experiment in how humanity can sustain itself and thrive in deep space.

The Main Story Arc

As players join the game, they step into the roles of ordinary crew members aboard this monumental fleet. The story truly begins with the release of the game, as players navigate the fleet’s journey from system to system, facing challenges of self-sustenance, resource management, and expansion. From cultivating crops to managing energy, defending against external threats, and exploring the remnants of ancient civilizations, players have a direct hand in ensuring the success of the fleet and, ultimately, humanity’s future among the stars.

The adventure takes an unexpected turn when the fleet encounters a mysterious Dyson sphere and signs of ancient, long-forgotten civilizations. Players must not only ensure the fleet’s survival but also uncover cosmic secrets that could be the key to humanity’s future. This is where the collaborative nature of Project Universe shines—every player’s role, whether in crafting, exploration, research, or leadership, contributes to the unfolding story of humanity’s quest to forge a new destiny among the stars.
